Bio

The Priest is simply that, a priest. As cliche as that might be, not much else about him is known beyond the fact that he works at one of the old churches in the city that DOGS is set in. The titles he is given interchanges a lot, sometimes even being called "bishop." It may very well depend on his mood. (Or the translators have no idea what they are talking about.)

Besides working at the church, he is the caretaker of Nill, a small, mute "angel" girl whom was dropped off there by Heine Rammsteiner, one of the Priest's longtime good friends.. He seems to have a bit of an awkward thing for her--it's not quite love, but he does fawn over her and her cuteness to a rather questionable extent, dress her up in ridiculous dresses and fix her hair in such a manner that makes her reminiscent of some Victorian era child. It may be worth noting that he and the girl have the almost exact same hairstyle...

If there is anything else to note of him, it is certainly his very unique appearance. He has long (waist-length even) blond hair with trimmed bangs in a somewhat effeminate style; regardless, he is tall and lanky and it's easy to see he is male. But certainly not a typical priest. Beside the usual black long-sleeved shirt with the white collar as typical of clergymen, he wears a pair of dark glasses over his eyes at all times, attributed to the fact he is actually blind.

He is oft seen carrying a cane, presumably to help him find his way around, but anyone who knows him well enough know he's damn good at utilizing that thing as a weapon. He has engaged a deadly swordswoman in combat with it before, actually.

Secondly, he's quite set apart from the usual image of a priest by his personality. He is arguably one of the most quirky individuals one could meet: humorous, blunt, perverse. And even if he's blind, that doesn't seem to inhibit him much at all; he's about as dumb as a fox. Sly and perhaps a "little" manipulative, for a good part of the story it has been thought he was simply the very strange priest who took care of the girl that Heine had found, who dispensed sage advice when it was needed...

However, recent developments show he is much more than that; he knows of the ways of the Underground, the society of genetic experiments created courtesy of the crazed doctor Angelica Einstellsehn, and it is very possible he may be one of them himself. He does not fear Freuling, a sword-wielding woman who happens one of the most deadliest results of the project. Beyond heedlessly attacking her with his cane, they seem to be able to carry on casual conversation before and after. He seems to know of her past, of Heine, Nill, and most of the experiment's pasts...

The Priest certainly knows a lot more than he lets on.
